Lashes, hair, nails, candles, ceramics, cakes, coaching — a huge amount of small business in Australia is run by women out of home studios and small shopfronts. Finding them is the hard part.
Search by service and suburb
Small operators rarely rank on Google, because they don't have the budget for it. Searching a specific service plus your suburb, and browsing directories built for the purpose, will surface far more than a generic search.
Ask before you book
A short message before booking saves everyone time:
- What's included and the total price, including any deposit
- Where the studio is and whether parking or access is an issue
- Their cancellation and reschedule policy
- Whether they're insured, for anything applied to your body
Leave the review
Reviews are the only marketing most small operators will ever get for free. If someone did good work, an anonymous, specific review is worth more to them than a like.
Listing your own business
If you run something, a Coven listing is $7 a month. It gives you a public business profile members can find and contact directly. Your personal profile, measurements and private tools stay separate and private — only the business details you choose to publish are visible.

Any legal business or service run by a woman — beauty, hair, wellness, food, makers, creative and professional services. Listings are reviewed and anything illegal or unsafe is removed.
Is the $7 a one-off?
It's a monthly subscription that renews automatically, and you can cancel any time from your billing settings. Cancelling returns the listing to draft.
