How we keep this place decent
Coven only works if it stays honest and stays kind. Here's how that's enforced.
Community guidelines
- Review the product, the place or the business — never a person.
- No real names: not yours, not a stylist's, not an ex's, not a stranger's.
- No addresses, phone numbers, emails or anything that pins someone to a location.
- Blunt and negative is fine. Cruel, hateful or vengeful is not.
- Be honest. Don't review something you haven't actually bought, visited or used.
- Businesses in the directory must be legal and real.
Zero tolerance — illegal content
Child sexual abuse material, the sexualisation of a minor, threats of violence, and trading in anything illegal are absolutely forbidden on Coven. There is no warning, no second chance and no appeal.
- Every piece of text and every image is screened before it can be saved. Anything in this category is blocked outright — it never becomes visible to anyone.
- The account is permanently banned on the spot, at the database level. A banned account cannot post a review, a listing, an enquiry or an image ever again.
- The attempt is preserved as a private evidence record — including the account and the time — and referred to law enforcement, in Australia to the eSafety Commissioner and the Australian Federal Police, and to the relevant authority elsewhere. Identifying information is disclosed to them where the law requires it.
If you have seen something of this kind anywhere, report it here and, if a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police straight away.
Moderation
Every review passes two automatic checks before it saves. The first strips personal information — emails, phone numbers, addresses. The second catches abuse, harassment, revenge posts and anything aimed at a named individual. You're warned before you submit, with a plain explanation of what to change.
Reporting & blocking
Anything that slips through can be reported from the review or listing itself. Reports are queued for a human, and repeat offenders lose the ability to post. Reports of illegal content jump the queue, and the content is preserved as evidence the moment it's flagged.
Questions
- Can anyone see who wrote a review?
- No. Reviews show your random handle only. Your account is never linked to a review publicly.
- What happens if I try to post someone's name?
- You'll get a warning before it saves, explaining exactly what needs to come out. Nothing is published until it's clean.
- How do I report something?
- Use the report link on any review or business listing. Reports go straight to moderation and are reviewed by a human.
- Can I block someone?
- Blocking is being built. Because Coven has no messaging between members, there's very little surface for it — the only direct contact is a business enquiry, which a business owner can decline.
- Are my private tools ever moderated?
- No. Your diary, cycle tracker and reminders are yours. Nothing in them is read, screened or published.
